The project was to take an existing website built in Umbraco and move it in its entirety into DatoCMS utilising the AstroJS framework. There were no design updates needed, at least for this phase 1 of the project, so it was a case of ‘like for like’. The main challenge was setting up the CMS in a way that felt intuitive and easy to use for the client, as the CMS is quite different to the more traditional CMS they were used to working with. Re-usable modules were created along with the client having complete control over the structure of the site.
Another challenge was to import all the News and Blog articles from the old CMS into Dato. The successful import, complete with images, was a great time-saver as over 50 articles did not have to be manually input. This meant there was more budget available for technical improvements rather than simply copy and pasting content.
The end result is a site that the client finds easy to use, and one that they are confident in its levels of security and future updates.
